The Tab Overload Dilemma

Too many tabs to sort through one by one?

Your tabs are open for a reason. Some are active projects, some are useful references, and some are duplicates you forgot about weeks ago. Once they spread across multiple windows, it becomes difficult to tell what matters and what can safely go.

Tab Export & Cleanup gives you a complete inventory and a practical way to work through it without blindly closing everything.

Built-in Safety & Clarity

Scan all supported Chrome windows at once and see how many tabs, duplicates, groups, pinned pages, and cleanup candidates you have.

Multi-window intelligence →

Know where to start

Windows are ranked by how many tabs can likely be closed, so you can begin with the biggest opportunity instead of hunting through your browser.

Prioritized action targets →

Clean up with context

Every flagged tab includes a cleanup score, suggested action, and plain-language explanation. You decide what stays and what goes.

Transparent scoring →

Export before you close

Simple Workflow

A cleaner browser in three steps

No complicated setups. You are always one click away from clarity.

Step 1

Open the extension

Tab Export & Cleanup automatically scans your open Chrome windows and organizes the results in real time.

Step 2

Review the recommendations

Explore tabs by window, duplicate URL, or domain. Sort them by tab order or place the strongest cleanup candidates first.

Step 3

Export or clean up

Save a full CSV, download a focused cleanup shortlist, jump to tabs you want to revisit, or close unwanted tabs individually or in carefully confirmed groups.

Complete Toolset

Everything you need to export, review, and reduce tab overload

40 Data Fields

Export every open tab

Create a complete CSV inventory of your browser session, ordered by window and tab position. The export includes titles, URLs, domains, tab status, groups, duplicate information, last-accessed data, cleanup scores, and suggested actions.

Ranked Queue

Create a cleanup shortlist

Not ready to review every tab? Export only the tabs that need attention, sorted with the strongest cleanup candidates first.

Smart Canonical

Find exact and near duplicates

Spot identical URLs as well as pages that differ only because of tracking parameters, URL fragments, or minor formatting. The extension identifies the best copy to keep based on recent use.

Multi-Window

Review tabs by window

See which windows contain the most duplicates, idle tabs, and safely closable pages. Expand any window to inspect its tabs without switching back and forth.

Domain Aggregation

Group tabs by domain

Find out which websites are consuming the most space across your browser. Expand a domain to review all of its tabs across every window.

State Badges

Jump to or close individual tabs

Open any tab directly from the extension or close it in place. Helpful badges show whether a tab is pinned, playing audio, grouped, duplicated, unloaded, blank, or idle.

Use conservative quick-cleanup rules

Review focused cleanup groups for duplicate copies, blank tabs, old search-result pages, and tabs untouched for 90 days or more.

Cleanup recommendations, not reckless automation

Your tabs may contain unfinished work, research, forms, media, or pages you cannot easily recover. Tab Export & Cleanup is designed to keep you in control.

Your browsing stays in your browser

Tab Export & Cleanup reads only the tab information required to organize and export your open tabs. It does not read the contents of webpages or send your tab data anywhere.

Everything happens locally while the extension popup is open. No background service running.

Data Transparency

More than a basic list of links

The full CSV contains 40 fields that help you understand and organize your tabs. Open it in Excel, Google Sheets, or your preferred spreadsheet tool to archive, filter, sort, or repurpose the data.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the extension close tabs automatically?

No. The extension scans and recommends, but it does not close anything without your action. Every bulk close also requires confirmation.

Can I save my tabs before cleaning them up?

Yes. Export every open tab to a detailed CSV before closing anything. You can also export a separate shortlist containing only tabs recommended for review or cleanup.

How does duplicate detection work?

Exact duplicates share the same URL. Near duplicates are pages that resolve to the same normalized URL after common tracking parameters, fragments, and minor URL variations are removed.

Which duplicate does it recommend keeping?

The most recently used copy is selected as the keeper. If two copies have the same last-accessed time, the extension uses their window and tab positions to make a consistent choice.

Will it close pinned tabs or tabs playing audio?

Conservative quick-cleanup actions skip pinned, active, and audio-playing tabs. Any broader close action requires confirmation and tells you if pinned or audible tabs are included.

Does it read the pages I visit?

No. The extension reads tab metadata such as the title, URL, window, status, and group. It does not read page content and does not request access to every website.

Is my tab data uploaded or shared?

No. The extension makes no network requests. Scanning, scoring, and CSV creation happen locally in Chrome while the popup is open.

Does it work in Incognito mode?

It can scan Incognito windows only if you explicitly allow the extension to run in Incognito through Chrome’s extension settings.

Why is last-accessed information missing for some tabs?

Tab age information requires Chrome 121 or newer. When that information is unavailable, the extension simply omits age-based scoring.
