The WordPress Blindspot

Your WordPress Site Has More Links Than You Think

Links accumulate everywhere. Old articles point to vanished websites. Product reviews contain URLs nobody remembers. Widgets reference retired pages. Theme settings retain old domains. Comments can hide spam.

"WordPress doesn’t provide a comprehensive built-in answer to a basic question: What links are on my site, and where exactly are they?"

01

Vanished Destinations

5-year-old blog posts still link to expired domains, acquired startups, and decommissioned partner tools that silently turn into 404s.

02

Hidden Comment Spam

Product reviews and user biographies frequently conceal obfuscated spam links and affiliate redirect tricks that standard scanners bypass.

03

Theme & Widget Ghosts

Hardcoded staging links, old copyright years, and dead social icons tucked inside theme options or footer widgets persist unnoticed.

04

Direct Remediation Path

Never hunt through nested menus again. Every discovered URL is paired with a direct admin edit link to resolve issues in seconds.

Deep Diagnostic Scan

Find Links Across Your Entire WordPress Installation

Go beyond links in post content. Scan the places that are easy to overlook.

Posts, Pages & CPTs

Standard post types, WooCommerce products, portfolios, custom post types, and custom archive pages.

Content & Custom Fields

Gutenberg blocks, classic HTML content, post excerpts, and nominated ACF/meta custom fields.

Taxonomies & Terms

Categories, tags, custom taxonomy terms, and long-form term archive descriptions.

Comments & Reviews

Approved/pending comments, author profile links, and WooCommerce product customer feedback.

Navigation Menus

Header, footer, mobile off-canvas menus, and custom URL links with custom rel/target tags.

Classic & Block Widgets

Sidebar widgets, footer block widget areas, and legacy HTML text widgets across all registered zones.

User Biographies & Profiles

Registered author website fields, biographical info descriptions, and social profile links.

Theme Settings & Options

Registered wp_options entries, customizer variables, and third-party theme framework URLs.

Comprehensive Element & Attribute Parsing

Find URLs in anchors, images, iframes, scripts, stylesheets, forms, media elements, embeds, srcset, inline event handlers, and inline script blocks.

<a href>
<img src / srcset>
<iframe src>
<script src>
<link href>
<form action>
<video / audio src>
Inline script blocks
onclick / onload handlers

Captured per occurrence: Source, title, permalink, exact location, element & attribute, link text, rel, target, authored URL, and visibility status (hidden from visitors).

Immediate Remediation

Don’t Just Find the Link.

Find Where It Lives.

A list of URLs isn’t enough if you still have to hunt through WordPress to make a change. NonStop Link Reporter provides context-aware edit links that take you straight to the source.

Occurrence CSV exports also include an Edit link (admin) column, so reports remain actionable when delegated to teammates or agency developers.

Optional Module

Link Health

Find Broken Links and Follow Every Redirect

Enable the optional Link Health module to check where links actually lead. Inspect complete chains and catch stealth regressions.

Why it matters:

A link that eventually returns 200 OK may still redirect through multiple slow hops before arriving somewhere you didn’t intend.

Security & Reputation
Off by default

Link Security

Spot Suspicious Links Before They Become Bigger Problems

Malicious or unwanted links can hide in places that ordinary content reviews miss. Enable Link Security to identify suspicious patterns with plain-English diagnostic explanations.

Module Note:

Risk signals are indicators for review, not proof of compromise. Google Safe Browsing lookups require explicit configuration.

Streamlined Review

Focus on Links That Still Need Attention

Large sites can contain thousands of unique URLs and many more occurrences. Review the important findings without repeatedly sorting through trusted destinations.

Benefit: Less repetitive cleanup. More focused auditing.
Universal Formats

Turn Link Findings Into Actionable Reports

Export the information you need for audits, migrations, cleanup projects, and handoffs.

CSV

Occurrence CSV

One row for each location where a link appears, including source permalink and admin edit link.

CSV

Unique URL CSV

One row per destination, with a concise summary of occurrence counts and health states.

JSON

JSON Export

Structured tree format for automated scripts, CI/CD pipelines, and custom reporting tools.

Exports are streamed in chunks to support enterprise datasets without memory exhaustion. Spreadsheet formula-like values (= + - @) are automatically neutralized for safer CSV handling.

Real-World Scenarios

Built for Real WordPress Cleanup

Tailored for high-stakes site handoffs, ongoing maintenance, and SEO recovery.

Website Redesigns & Migrations

Inventory old URLs and locate legacy staging or HTTP references that need updating before or immediately following domain launch.

SEO Audits

Eliminate link equity leaks by finding broken destinations, multi-hop redirect chains, forgotten outbound links, and mixed-content assets.

Security Investigations

Surface malicious and suspicious links stealthily embedded in user comments, third-party scripts, widgets, options, and overlooked locations.

Agency Client Onboarding

Rapidly dissect an inherited, undocumented client website and create an organized, itemized link issue backlog for your dev team.

WooCommerce Stores

Audit thousands of catalog product descriptions, spec sheet download links, customer reviews, and related upsell links reliably.

Content Maintenance

Find outdated URLs, decommissioned CDN assets, and obsolete product links scattered across decades of archival posts and pages.

Continuous Vigilance

Scan Once or Keep Your Reports Updated

Websites change. Schedule scans daily, weekly, or monthly, receive an optional email summary, and keep your inventory current through incremental rescans whenever posts, terms, or comments change.

Implementation note for developer:

WP-CLI support is a planned feature. Confirm registration, argument behavior, module checks, safe reset behavior, progress reporting, and parity with admin reports before publishing this section as an available capability.

Zero Database Bloat

Designed for Sites With Lots of Links

A relatively small WordPress site can produce tens of thousands of link occurrences. NonStop Link Reporter stores its inventory in dedicated database tables rather than bloating post metadata.

Result: A reporting structure designed to handle link inventories without turning every occurrence into a slow wp_postmeta record.

Self-Hosted Integrity

Your Link Inventory Stays Under Your Control

The core inventory runs on your WordPress installation without outbound requests. Link Health and optional Google Safe Browsing checks require explicit enablement.

Security Guarantee: Runs entirely on your hardware. Your confidential links never touch external SaaS servers.

Got Questions?

Frequently Asked Questions

Clear answers about compatibility, resource usage, and scanning mechanics.

Does NonStop Link Reporter only find broken links?

No. Its primary function is a complete inventory of links and their exact locations across your database. Broken-link checking is an optional module that can be toggled on when outbound verification is desired.

Does the plugin scan WooCommerce products?

Yes. Products are fully supported as a custom post type, and the plugin also identifies links embedded in product customer reviews and nominated meta specifications.

Can I find links inside widgets and menus?

Yes. The inventory covers classic and block widgets, navigation menus, user bios, and other supported WordPress option sources.

Does scanning contact external websites?

The core inventory scan does not make any outbound requests. Enabling Link Health or external reputation lookups introduces outbound requests specifically for those features.

Can I export a report for a client?

Yes. Export occurrence-level CSV, unique-URL CSV, or JSON. Occurrence exports include direct admin edit links to streamline team remediation.

Can I run audits from WP-CLI?

WP-CLI commands are planned for the next implementation phase. Once released, they will support scanning, health checking, security analysis, status, exports, and report reset.

What are the minimum requirements?

WordPress 6.5 or later and PHP 8.1 or later.

Stop Wondering What’s Linking Where.
